Swindern's Lovebird

Agapornis swinderniana

Swindern’s, or the Black-Collar is probably rarest, and most unusual of the lovebirds. This species is spread sparsely throughout its native range and has very specialized dietary requirements that are difficult to meet. Because of this, they are not kept or bred in aviculture. The sexes are similarly marked; mainly green with a half collar at the nape. The chest is orange-yellow, merging into yellow on the bell. The rump and tail have blue and red markings.
